Great Harbour Cay in the Berry Islands (NA-054) is likely to be the first stop of this season's island hopping. This is the eleventh of a series of twelve special callsigns; the suffix stands for Forca Expedicionaria Brasileira, the Brazilian Expeditionary Force that fought alongside the Allied powers in Italy during World War II. PY - In November PY2DS, PU2POP and PU2XIZ will join a group of reasearchers from the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation and visit Ilha da Queimada Grande (SA-071). This island is the only home of thousands of golden lancehead vipers, one of the world's deadliest and most endangered species of snakes. Expect ZY2QG to be QRV for 24 hours only, date TBA. " 18/10/2015 05:40 Le petit monde du radio-amateurisme était rassemblé hier, au parc des expositions. Parmi eux, Claude, un retraité qui pratique cette discipline depuis l'âge de 14 ans. La bouteille de pétillant attend sur la table de camping, à côté du bol de chips. Devant son camping-car, à l'heure de l'apéritif, Claude attend des amis sur le parking du parc des expositions, là où se tient le salon Hamexpo, convoité par les radioamateurs de toute la France. « On vient ici pour chercher du matériel, des pièces qui nous manquent, confie Claude. Et puis, pour croiser les copains. » Alors que sa compagne attend les invités à l'intérieur du camping-car (« moi, je ne pratique pas, mais je le suis »), Claude nous fait visiter l'intérieur de sa « demeure ». C'est ici, dans le véhicule, qu'il a installé sa radio sur la petite table centrale. « La mienne m'a coûté 1.500??, mais on peut commencer avec moins, avec 300?? on a quelque chose qui tient la route. » En pleine démonstration, une voix féminine, un peu brouillée sort de la radio. « C'est Mado, elle parle depuis ce matin. Je crois qu'elle est basée à Toulouse. » Claude a commencé à « bidouiller » des radios à l'âge de 14 ans. « J'ai un peu piraté au début. » Et puis, il a passé sa licence (« c'est comme un CAP électronique ») pour pouvoir s'afficher officiellement radioamateur. « Ceux qui utilisent des cibi, c'est un peu comme ceux qui pratiquent le vélo le dimanche, nous les radioamateurs, on fait le tour de France. » Qu'il soit au Maroc, en Italie, ou chez lui, dans les Deux-Sèvres, Claude reste accroché à sa radio. « On peut entrer en contact avec des radioamateurs du bout du monde, même des satellites. Je peux aussi faire du morse. » Sur les ondes, les hommes se font appeler « OM », les femmes « YL ». « 73, ça signifie amitiés. » Et de quoi parle-t-on entre radioamateurs?? « Il y a des sujets interdits, comme la politique et la religion. On parle surtout techniques et météo. » repères Tours, capitale des radioamateurs C'est à Tours-Nord (32, rue de Suède) que se trouve le siège du Réseau des émetteurs français (Ref), la plus importante association de radioamateurs dans l'Hexagone. The new QTX code was released over the past weekend at the ARI DX summit in Rome, Italy and the RSGB Convention in the UK. "The new meaning of QTX: when a DXpedition operator clearly spells out a callsign and a number, it simply means that a targeted station should stop transmitting for a specified time period, say 1 hour, and then come back with a retuned method and mind. Alternatively, a DXer can send QTX with band and time to a pilot station indicating that a specific DXpedition operator's efficiency and throughput - the rate, that is - has reached a point where the DXpedition operator cannot handle the task at hand, so much so that it all results in a chaotic situation. The DXpedition management folks should then act accordingly to deal with this unfortunate operator". [TNX OH2BN] THE FUTURE OF THE IOTA PROGRAMME ---> The following release was posted by the Radio Society of Great Britain's General Manager on 10 October: "The RSGB Islands on the Air (IOTA) programme celebrated its 50th anniversary as a premier DX programme in July 2014. The last fifty years have seen the programme grow to 2,500 active island chasers and approximately 15,000 more casual participants. It is perhaps second in scale and scope to the DXCC award; indeed, many would argue it is even more challenging than that programme. Last year the Board identified a number of challenges that the programme faced, not least of which was the need to provide an IT system that would allow online island credit submission akin to Logbook of the World (LoTW). Since that time, a small group of IOTA enthusiasts has been working with the Society to ensure that the IOTA programme continues to grow and play the prominent role that it has done in Amateur Radio DXing and contest activity for the last fifty years. That work has now come to fruition and we are pleased to announce that a new organisation will be formed, to be called the IOTA Foundation. It will be run by IOTA enthusiasts and will manage the IOTA programme in partnership with the Society. One major task for the new organisation will be to develop a new online credit system that is due to be completed in 2017. Condoléances à sa famille bien évidemment. Bonjour chers amis, J'ai le triste de voir de vous apprendre le départ de notre ami Charles - F9IV. Il est décédé ce jeudi 8 octobre vers midi au CHU de Nîmes. Son corps sera incinéré le mercredi 14 octobre à neuf heures : 490, avenue Chabot 30000 Nîmes. Si vous souhaitez faire parvenir des fleurs, il faudrait que ces dernières parviennent soit : - aux pompes funèbres camarguaises, 10, rue de la mairie, 30 510 Générac, le mardi 13 octobre, - soit au crématorium, avant 9 heures, le mercredi 14 octobre. Charles m'avait demandé, lors de son passage à Nantes, l'année dernière, de rédiger un petit article pour radioREF, afin que nous nous souvenions de lui. Je le fais parvenir ce jour à l'association. Mais des contacts ont été pris, (ils l'étaient déjà !) en particulier pour 2 classes afin de monter un dossier pour contacter ARISS lorsque le spationaute français sera sur la station spatiale, donc peut-être en 2017. Un autre contact pourrait se réaliser avec une classe unique (hors Education Nationale) pour des démos radioamateur ! On avance, on avance ! Les deux après-midis qui arrivent (dès 13h30) sont pour le grand public (adultes et enfants bien sûr). Donc vous pouvez passer voir le quadruple stand radio, vous y serez bien accueilli !
