He was born in Cologne in 1931, and had quite an eventful, successful and varied life until he emigrated to Contadora Island (NA-072), Panama in 1982. An amateur radio operator for 25 years, he participated in or hosted a large number of contest operations. The last one was HP1WW by OH0XX for the CQ WW DX CW 2012, shortly before Guenter left the island and moved permanently to mainland Panama.
